Tasty, mouth-watering Chicken Gravy is an easy to make authentic Indian sidedish with many Indian spices.

Ingredients and spices that need to be Take to make Chicken Gravy:

  1. 500 gm Chicken pieces(bones & boneless)
  2. 2 medium Onion finely chopped
  3. 1 large potato cut into 6-7 pieces
  4. 5 Tbsp Oil
  5. 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  6. 1/2 tsp Haldi/Turmeric powder
  7. 1/2 tsp Hing/Asafoetida
  8. 3 tsp koli/agri masala Or regular masala
  9. 1 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
  10. 1 tsp Tandoori Chicken masala or garam masala
  11. as per taste Salt
  12. 2-3 glass water or as per required
  13. as required coriander leaves for garnishing
  14. For roasted onion-coconut chutney:-
  15. 2 onion chopped (roasted)
  16. 1/2 cup grated coconut (dry or fresh) (Roasted)
  17. 6-7 garlic
  18. 8-9 kaju
  19. 1 inch garlic chopped
  20. as required Water to make paste
  21. For marinate:-
  22. 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  23. 1/2 tsp Haldi
  24. Pinch salt
  25. For Coriander/pudina chutney:-
  26. 2-3 green chilli
  27. 3/4 cup Coriander leaves mix with Pudina leaves
  28. as required few curry leaves
  29. as required Water to make paste

Steps to make to make Chicken Gravy

  1. For making green paste:-
    Grind coriander leaves, pudina leaves, green chilli, curry leaves with little water in a mixer jar to make a fine green paste.
  2. For making Coconut chutney:-
    First roast onion and coconut in tawa, then when cooled, take it out in a same mixer jar, add garlic, ginger, cashew nuts, add a little water and make a smooth paste. Keep aside.
  3. Wash the chicken pieces with water for 3-4 times
  4. To Marinate the Chicken:-
    First marinate the Chicken with ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder and a pinch of salt. Then add green chutney and marinate chicken with it. Keep this marinated chicken aside for at least 30 mins.
  5. For making Gravy:- In a heavy-bottomed pot, heat oil. Add onion and saute until soft but donot brown it. Add ginger-garlic paste and stir well. Then add turmeric, hing, all remaining spices and keep stirring until fragrant about 3-4 minutes.
  6. Add marinated chicken pieces into the masala and mix well. Cover and cook for 5 mins.
  7. Next add potato and coconut chutney and mix well in the masala. Pour two to three glasses of water to make a gravy consistency as per needed and cover the pot. Adjust water consistency accordingly you want for thick or thin gravy.
  8. Cover and Cook over medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes. After 15-20 mins, see if the chicken and the potatoes are cooked.
    When the chicken is well cooked, then add salt and cook for another 5 minutes. Check seasoning, If needed chili powder, add it to taste.
  9. Finally garnish with chopped coriander leave. Simmer for 2-3 mins.
    Turn off the heat. Chicken Gravy is ready to be served.
  10. Serve hot Chicken gravy with roti, malvani vade, rice, lemon and salad.
